Emma's recommends: 9 trips in the area

We have compiled our personal favorites for the warm and cold seasons for you:

Hike to the geographical center of Switzerland

The vacation region of Lungern is located in Central Switzerland. In the truest sense of the word, the geographical center of Switzerland is located barely 5.5 km as the crow flies from the village center, on the Älggialp. This can be reached by car, but we recommend to cover the distance to the Älggialp on foot - a hike that leads directly into the heart of Switzerland.

On the road with the mountain bike and the racing bike

For those who enjoy sports but want to move a little faster than hiking, we definitely recommend a mountain bike tour. From Lungern, many attractive bike trails lead through the surrounding forests and up the mountains. The mountain passes directly bordering Lungern, such as the Brünig, the Susten or the Grimsel pass, make the sporty hearts of the racers and racing bike fans beat faster.

Adrenaline driven downhill with scooter or paraglider

For those who love action, it's downhill - and fast. Either roar down the valley on oversized scooters on steep paths or glide silently through the air. No one will get bored here. Gondolas and cable cars take you directly to the start. There you will be equipped and instructed so that you arrive safely back at our Emma's Hotel B&B. Open Air Museum Ballenberg

More than 100 historic residential and farm buildings from all over Switzerland can be visited a quarter of an hour's drive from Lungern at the Ballenberg Open-Air Museum near Brienz. Buildings scattered throughout the country have been carefully dismantled and rebuilt on the museum's 66 hectares. One highlight: craftsmen carry out traditional work with old tools and provide an authentic insight into earlier times.

Fishing Paradise Lake Lungern

Our lake is alive and well known as a true fisherman's paradise for every passionate angler. You can obtain the necessary fishing license at various locations in the region. For the lucky fishermen among our hotel guests, there is a 24/7 accessible freezer in the separate bike area of our underground car park to store the vacuumed catch in until departure.

Tours on the motorbike

Are you a motorcycle fan and enjoy your free time best on the winding pass roads of the Swiss Alps? Excellent, because the region is located at the foot of the Brünig Pass. Behind this pass, countless turn-offs present themselves for varied motorcycle tours. Popular pass roads such as Sustenpass in the direction of Wassen, the Grimselpass into the Upper Valais or Furkapass lie directly in front of you to be ridden.

Snowshoe hikes in the winter wonderland

Freezing cold, steel blue sky and only the sound of crunching fresh snow under your feet. Sounds like something out of a fairy tale? The snowshoe trails around Lungern definitely have something magical about them. From Lungern, for example, you can get to the top of the Brünig Pass in around three hours. Also from the mountain station of the Lungern-Turren cable car, numerous enchanted paths lead to fantastic vantage points.

Winter hiking on the Turren

The panorama trail, from the mountain station of the Lungern-Turren cable car, which leads through the winter landscape to the sleepy hut village of Breitenfeld, is definitely one of our winter highlights. Above the sea of fog, you can enjoy the far-reaching view across the valley to the Bernese Alps. It is an easy tour and takes about two hours. In the restaurant Turren you can warm up, eat something delicious. www.turren.ch/winterwandern
